Consumer trials and recent Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) research has proven that milk processed using the Haelen® Method results in fresh milk being twice as digestible, than any other processed cow’s milk currently available on the Australian market, all without adding anything to the milk. The reason for this amazing result lies in the way Haelen® treats the often-problematic whey proteins.
This research was triggered after a consumer trial in late 2021 showed that two-thirds of trial participants who normally experienced an adverse reaction to cow’s milk found that Haelen® processed milk eliminated or reduced this reaction.

CEO & Founder of Haelen® Technology, Jeff Hastings has spent 30 years in global agribusiness, entrepreneurship, innovation, and new product development. Jeff specializes in finding solutions to food industry problems mainly through the development of new and novel shelf-life extension technologies. In addition to being the founder of the Haelen® method for milk processing, which has been in development since 2015, he is also the founder of the innovative food technology company Naturo All Natural Technologies which has commercialised patented technology Natavo Natural Avocado processing that stops avocados going brown.
The milk processed using the HaeIen® Method is 100% safe, fresh, natural milk with nothing added. The HaeIen® process destroys key pathogens, identified under guidance from Australia’s leading dairy regulatory authority Dairy Food Safe Victoria, to a greater effect than traditional pasteurisation. The technology is approved for commercial production by Safe Food Queensland at our pilot manufacturing facility on the Sunshine Coast. Export accreditation is expected in late 2022.
To answer this question, we need to go back in time. For hundreds of years, milk has been put through a process called pasteurisation to make it safe to drink. There were no significant changes to this method of processing until the Haelen method was developed in 2019.
The Haelen method which is used to create our milk is the first major breakthrough in milk processing technology in over 150 years. But what does that mean and why is our milk better for you? Unlike pasteurised milk, our milk retains higher levels of vitamins, enzymes and whole proteins whilst still ensuring the milk is safe. Milk processed using the Haelen® Method has been validated for a shelf life of up to 60 days when refrigerated, compared to only 21 days for pasteurised milk.
